The fast of the month of Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the lunar calendar. It is an event eagerly awaited by the Muslim community. Ramadan is not a month an ordinary month for a believer. It contains precious treasures which the Muslim enjoys here below and in the hereafter. The prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said: When the month of Ramadan arrives, the doors of Paradise are open and those of Hell closed, while the demons are chained . [reported by al Bukhari and Muslim]

The fast of the month of Ramadan is an excellent means of attracting the mercy and forgiveness of Allah, as testified by the words of the prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) : He who fastes the month of Ramadan with faith by counting on the divine reward, his sins will be forgiven him. [reported by al Bukhari and Muslim]

All the rewards of acts of worship have been described by Allah, except fasting. No one knows the retribution of fasting because Allah said : Everything that Adam's son does is for himself except fasting it is for Me and it is I who give the reward. [hadith unanimously recognized as authentic, mouttafaqoun 'alayh] Furthermore, fasting is a solid protection against fire, because the prophet (sallallahu'alayhi wa sallam ) said: Fasting preserves from Hell like a shield in battle . [reported by Ahmed]

On the Day of Judgment, Allah will invite the fasters to enter Paradise through the ar-Rayan gate, which is exclusively reserved for them. To get this reward, it is not enough to abstain from drinking, eating and having intimate relationships. This month of Ramadan must be fasted sincerely for Allah.

Here is a summary of the most important points of fasting. As for prayer times during this blessed month, you can consult the Ramadan calendar for most countries in the world.

Speaking badly during Ramadan: language fasting

The tongue is the organ of the body that causes the most damage. Much sharper than a saber, it is the source of many problems and disputes. During the fast of the month of Ramadan, the Muslim must hold his tongue even more than usual. He must not pronounce vulgar words, speak to say nothing, slander, slander, lie ... When one of you fast that he abstains from saying obscene words and to raise your voice. If someone insults him or provokes him in battle, let him simply say:"I am fasting". [unanimously recognized hadith]

Look down during Ramadan: eye fasting

{ Say to the believers (to) lower/humble from their eye sights , and they protect/safe keep from their genital parts between their legs, that is more pure/correct for them, that God (is) expert/experienced with what they make/do . } [Surah 24, an-Nour - Verse 30]

Fasting of the ears

{ And do not follow the tracks/accuse of evil deeds what knowledge is not for you with it (you have no knowledge of), that the hearing/listening, and the eye sight/knowledge, and the heart , all (of) those are/were about it questioned. } [Surah 17, al Isra - Verse 36]

The Muslim must beware of bad words. Even if he does not say it, he must also be careful not to hear them. He must not divert his heart from the worship of Allah by going towards what can weaken the heart: listening to vulgar music, backbiting, peddling, rude words, futile words ...

Fasting the whole body

The nafs first, by fighting against laziness. Our nafs do not like efforts. We must not give him reason and increase the acts of worship during this month. Also the heart, by depriving it of the love of this world and by giving what we love the most. Attachment to goods makes attachment to the Creator difficult. Finally the members, by performing only gestures that please Allah. By depriving oneself of offensive gestures, by going only to places that please God (mosques, visits to the sick ...)
