How to do the Maghrib prayer?

The Maghrib prayer (after sunset) is composed of 3 prayer units (rak'at). To make salat al maghrib, it is necessary to make 2 units, and at the end of these, to get up and to redo 1 single unit with again the tashahhoud. If you forgot how to pray 2 units, go to the how to do 2 rakat page. Suras or short passages of the Qur'an are recited during the prayer of al maghrib.

When to pray to Maghrib, and until when?

The Maghrib prayer begins from sunset until dusk disappears. It is located between salat al asr and salat al isha.

How to pray al Maghrib?

The salat of Maghrib is 3 rakat, 2 + 1 prayer units:

  • Plan to pray al maghrib
  • Make 2 units of prayer out loud
  • At the end of the 2nd raka, recite only the tashahhud
  • Stand up for the 3rd unit, and just recite the fatiha
  • At the end of this rak'a, recite the tashahhud again
  • Add one of ibrahimiya prayers
  • Pass the salam on the right then on the left
