The Legal Time of each Prayer

Prayers are prescriptions at certain times. It is not possible to pray ad-dhuhr, al maghrib and al fajr before their respective times. In the case of twinning (al jam '), it is permissible for the Muslim to pray al' asr and al 'isha before their hours. prayer times allow you to meet these conditions.

Hadith on the hours of prayer

Abdullah Ibn Amr reports that the Prophet (sallallahu 'alayhi wa sallam) said, " The ad-dhuhr time begins when the sun declines, and extends until the shadow of a man is equivalent to its size (beginning of the asr). The weather of the asr spreads until the yellowing of the sun. The time of al maghrib is prolonged until the disappearance of dusk. The time of the isha is prolonged until half of the night. The time of al soubh is between sunrise and sunrise. [Muslim]

The prayers of dohr, asr, maghrib, isha and soubh

Douhr: begins when the sun declines towards the sunset (15 min after the zenith) and ends when the shadow of each object is equivalent to its size.

Asr: from the end of Douhr's time until before sunset.

Maghrib: from sunset to the disappearance of twilight.

Isha: from the disappearance of the twilight to the middle of the night, or just before sunrise.

Fajr (Subh): from dawn to sunrise.

The times during which it is not advisable to pray

We can make up the mandatory prayer at any time. These discouraged times only concern supererogatory prayers:

  • After the prayer of al fajr until 15 min before sunrise
  • At the zenith (it takes about 15 minutes)
  • After the prayer of al asr until sunset
