Humans can make mistakes and commit sins, but Allah SWT is the most merciful. He loves His creatures and provides them chances to repent and seek forgiveness. Every time you sin, turn towards Allah SWT through different supplications. We will discuss some powerful duas for forgiveness from Allah in this blog.

Powerful Duas for Forgiveness from Allah

Seeking Allah’s forgiveness is a means of two things; it is a means of preventing hardships. It is also a means of relieving hardships.

Seeking forgiveness has a great status in Islam, as Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: ‘That the act of repentance may take a man away from an offensive act and towards a good habit, and from being deficient towards perfection. A man is raised from a lowly rank to a higher and better position. Thus a servant becomes a servant of Allah who is aware of his Lord every day, every hour, and every minute. He increases his knowledge about Allah and knows his religion and his bond with Allah. He ponders about Allah even when eating, drinking, sleeping, and while awake. He subconsciously submits to Allah’s Will in all his words or actions. Due to the presence of his heart on a high level, and by giving it (the heart) its rights, he will see his shortcomings become more evident. Nevertheless, he still needs to seek forgiveness day and night; in reality, he desperately needs forgiveness in all his speech and action, what is apparent and what is hidden— as this will help improve his affairs and receive goodness. It will also prevent harm and increase the strength and determination to perform deeds, be it of spiritual or physical nature.’

Asking for forgiveness wipes away everything a person has committed and also wipes away sins that had shirk. All sins are considered to have (some element of) shirk in them, so establishing Tawhid removes the core of shirk, and forgiveness wipes the branches (of shirk).

Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy upon him) said, ‘’Istighfar implies attesting to Allah’s Rububiyyah and ‘Uluhiyyah, and knowing that He is the Creator of the Universe; thus he begins with (acknowledging) his weakness in fulfilling Allah’s right upon him and knowing that he is an enslaved person whose forelock is in Allah’s Hands and in His grip, from which he can never run away from— as he has no protector except Him. Then he earnestly strives to fulfill his oath towards keeping to Allah’s Commands and Prohibitions, an oath that came through the tongue of His Messenger.
